How much does a Wix website cost? Hosting, email marketing and my honest recommendation

If you're thinking about building your website on Wix - or you already have one and you're trying to work out what you're actually paying for - this post is for you.

I get asked about Wix costs a lot. And honestly, it's one of those things that looks confusing at first glance but is actually pretty straightforward once you know what you're looking at.

So here's a clear, simple breakdown of what Wix hosting actually costs, what you get for your money, and my honest recommendation for small service-based businesses.

First, a quick note on how Wix pricing works

Wix splits its pricing into two separate things:

  • Website hosting (your Premium plan - this is what keeps your site live with your own domain)

  • Email marketing (a separate add-on if you want to send more than 200 newsletters or automated emails from Wix)

You don't have to have both. Most of my clients start with the hosting plan and add email marketing later if and when they need it.

Wix also runs a 50% discount on its Premium hosting plans fairly regularly - roughly every couple of weeks. It's worth knowing this before you buy, because it makes a significant difference to what you actually pay.

Wix Premium hosting plans (your website)

Here are the current UK prices for Wix Premium plans, which are billed annually:

Business Elite

All Premium plans include a custom domain (free for the first year), no Wix branding on your site, and 24/7 customer support. They also include a free domain for the first year and accept payments.

My recommendation: Wix Core Plan

For most small service-based businesses, the Core plan is the sweet spot.

You get 50GB of storage (plenty for a service website with photos and a blog), basic eCommerce if you ever need it, and all the essentials to have a professional, clean website.

With the 50% discount, which Wix offers regularly, you're typically looking at around £260 for a full three years. That works out at under £7.25 a month. For a website that's working hard for your business, that's genuinely excellent value.

The Light plan is cheaper, but the storage and features are quite limited. The Business plan is great if you're selling products or need more advanced eCommerce, but for a service business it's usually more than you need.

Wix email marketing

Wix has its own email marketing tool built in, which is handy because your contacts and website all live in the same place.

The good news is that all Wix Premium hosting plans already include a free email marketing plan - 200 sends per month. That’s a nice little bonus if you only want to send the occasional email to a small list. If you outgrow it, you can upgrade to a paid email plan at any point.

Here's a breakdown of the email marketing plans:

Core (recommended)

£18/mo

Advanced

£36.75/mo

All plans include a drag-and-drop editor, designer templates, automated emails, audience segmentation, and the option to remove Wix branding from your emails.

Do you need it?

That depends on where you are in your business. If you’re just getting started, the 200 sends included free with your hosting plan might be all you need for now. But if you have a growing list or you want to send regular newsletters, a launch sequence, or automated emails, it’s worth upgrading.

The Core email plan at £18 a month gives you 5,000 sends per month, which is more than enough for most small businesses. If you're just emailing a few hundred contacts once a month, the Essentials plan at £7.50 a month does the job.

Worth noting: if you're already using a separate email marketing platform like Mailchimp or HubSpot, you don't need to switch. But if you're looking for simplicity and everything in one place, Wix's own tool is solid.

So what does it cost in total?

Here's a realistic example for a small service business on the Core hosting plan, taking advantage of Wix's regular discount:

  • ~£260 total Core hosting (3 years, with 50% discount)

  • £18/month Core email marketing (if needed - over 200 email sends per month)

  • Free (200 sends/month) Basic email marketing (included with hosting)

The free email plan is included with all hosting plans, so if you only need to send the occasional email, you may not need to spend anything extra at all. Your website hosting remains the only ongoing cost - and at around £87 a year (discounted), that’s genuinely great value for a professional small business website.

A quick tip before you buy

Don't panic-buy a Wix plan at full price. If you see the 50% discount running, that's the right time to purchase. If you've just missed it, it'll be back. Wix runs these promotions very regularly.

It's also worth being clear on whether you're buying just the hosting plan, or if you're adding email marketing on top. They're two separate subscriptions and it's easy to accidentally sign up for more than you need.
